I've started helping out at the Papered Parlour, an awesome company based in Clapham that hold arty events, workshops and have an on-site studio full of talented illustrators, graphic designers, artists and photographers etc. Check them out here.
Here's a couple of little paintings I've done to put on their artist bios and studio leaflets, based on objects I've found around the place.
This blog has been severly abandoned of late. Much preparing for the degree show has left me little time to do anything else!
Anyhooo... the show was amazing. I think everyone did themselves proud!
Here's the work I showed... a mixture from my final major project and my second year work, all representing snapshots of little moments in London.
Many mixed feeling about leaving Uni. I'm super excited about being able to start making my own way in life, starting new projects and seeing what the future brings. But at the same time it'll be sad to leave the ready-made support system and the inspiration you get which comes with working with a class of illustrators, aswell as having my own studio space and facilities to use whenever needed. I'm also beyond gutted that most of my closest friends are moving back home/away from London. Paving a new way on your own is scary. But hopefully the future's bright. I'm also chuffed that today I found out that I'll be graduating with a 2:1 :D
I have a lot of ideas for new projects floating around at the moment, so watch this space!
I have an idea. It's ridiculously ambitious so I'm keeping it to myself for now until I prove that I can actually do it! But here's a sneak preview...in a terrible quality photo...sorry...
Just need to bind my zine and get my portfolio pages checked over before I get them printed, then it's on to the fun task of labelling, sorting, printing, getting the right bits of paper into the right sketchbooks/folders etc. Fun times.
Here's a few of my finished zine pages...
Just about finished the min-zine! Just need to add the quotes. Here's a couple of images.
I plan to do a quick little mini-zine on Soho! Just something quick and celebtrating other people's favourite thing to do there, whether it be certain restaurant or club... or maybe something more general like the atmosphere as you walk through at night, taking sneak peeks at the sex shops or sipping cider on the streets.
Whatever it is, I'd really really grateful if anyone can give me a couple of lines about their favourite thing about it and possibly a photo... : )
Next week I'm going to get over my phobia of technology and scan in all my A3 pictures. But for now here's a photo of Dollhouse on the Hill, one of the loveliest teashops I know :)
Excuse the terrible camera phone photography! These were my final pieces for the Professional Practice module- a pop up scene of my illustrations to send to prospective clients.
Need to fix the chairs. Waaaay too bulky.
This still needs a background painted in. And the card seems to be making the paint go weird, especially the black :(
Aiming to do a finished painting everyday this week. It WILL happen!
